
About the Role
A Theatre Nurse is responsible for supporting safe and efficient surgical procedures by working closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and the wider clinical team. The role focuses on maintaining a sterile operating environment, assisting during surgeries, monitoring patient condition, and ensuring high standards of patient safety before, during, and after procedures.
Key duties include preparing the operating theatre and surgical instruments, verifying patient details, assisting with procedures, and providing immediate post-operative care. The nurse is also responsible for patient assessment, administering medications, developing care plans, and educating patients and families on surgical care.
The position involves supervising junior staff, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous quality improvement. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring adequate medical supplies, adhering to infection control protocols, and responding effectively to emergencies.
