Examination & Assessment

Picture
The key to any good orthopedic diagnosis is a thorough examination and effective assessment of the body. Our history taking can take some time but it ensures we get to the root of the problem and havn't missed anything more serious that requires medical attention

We ask you to wear loose , comfortable clothing and may ask you to undress slightly in order for us to complete a complete assessment.

We often look at other things apart from your main complaint to ascertain if the source of the problem is coming from elsewhere, so please dont be alarmed its part of the holistic service we offer.

Explanation & Advice

An important step in recovering is understanding your problem. Physiotherapist often have more time than doctors to give a thorough explanation of your problem and give effective advice at managing the problem.

We regular check internet knowledge sources and journals to keep abreast of the latest evidence and treatment options available

Feel free to ask us questions we will always try to answer them to the best of our knowledge

Exercise Therapy, Machines & Pilates

Picture
The fundamental to physiotherapy is getting the body to move. Is about working muscles that have got lazy, stretching joints & ligaments that have got tight and teaching the body to heal itself.

The skill in physiotherapy comes to knowing which exercises are most effective for each person. The individual approach, effective teaching and graded program can restore the body & mind. We will find the right ones for you to save you time and help you to recovery quicker.  We have a range of exercise equipment available on site. We give printouts and hand drawings of exercises prescribed to you.

We are able to perform a pilates method for rehabilitation for those suffering from longstanding low back pain and looking to get their core back into shape

Mobilisation & Manipulation

Having learnt skills from osteopaths and chiropractors we have integrated the best into our practice. If during our assessment we identify stiff or locked joints we will perform manual techniques to release the level. This can include spinal manipulation or mobilisation of the peripheral joints. These 'hand on' therapies can have dramatic effects on acute back and neck pain and can altogether completely resolve the problem.

These will only be carried out by a qualified practitioner who has experience in ensuring the safety of the patient at all times.

Myofascial Release, Trigger Points & Massage

Picture
Physiotherapy started its profession with roots in massage and has grown from there

The power of touch still continues however we have integrated a variety of other techniques to treat dysfunction in the systems of the body. We use specific points of the body and certain methods for stretching variety of muscles, nerves and ligaments in order to re-align the body into its most optimal position.

We also offer traditional massage if all you need is to destress or a sports massage to relieve tired and sore bodies after some serious workout,

Modalities

Picture
We have a range of modalities available for pain management and injury treatment including;Cold Packs, Heat,
  • Ultrasound& Interferrential

These modalities should only be used as part of a range of treatments for effective management of musculoskeletal condition and should only be gien in doses as prescribed by a physiotherapist.

The electro-therapeutic effects of these treatments and risks of treatments will be explained to you by your therapist.

Taping, Biomechanics & Postural education

Picture
Taping and orthotics helps to re-align the body and restore normal posture. We use these adjuncts to help the body to understand its optimum position, to offload structures that are taking on too much strain and give them a chance to heal.

We perform biomechanical assessments and can make semi custom orthotics to suit the individual, supporting fallen arches , metatarsalgia, planter fascitis, mortons neuroma and more.

Ensuring a good biomechanical chain means less stress through knees, hips and spine and can correct other problems higher in the body.

Rehabilitation

Picture
Many elderly people will have suffered strokes, falls and other medical problems that can leave them physically impaired. a good physiotherapist will know how to educate, motivate and facilitate recovery so that they can begin to enjoy life again.

We can work with family & carers to ensure that a daily program is carried out at home to prevent contractures, improve strength & balance and reduce the risk of falls and further problems

We can also offer carefully monitored & paced cardiac rehabilitation programs for those who have suffered heart attacks, undergone cardiac surgery,  COPD, asthma or other heart & lung problems to optimise their recovery.
